Guide
Google Analytics and Search Console Handover
What to request, verify, and document when marketing accounts move between vendors.
For analytics handover, the business should control GA4 administrator access, Search Console verified owner access, Tag Manager publishing rights, ad account admin roles, and a list of all active tracking IDs.
Do not create a fresh analytics account unless necessary
Historical data is valuable. In most handovers, the right move is to add business-controlled owner access to the existing account, then remove vendor users after verification.
Search Console owner access matters
Delegated users can view data, but verified owners control deeper settings and verification. Make sure the business has a verified owner path independent of the old vendor.
Document every tracking dependency
Record GA4 measurement IDs, GTM container IDs, pixels, conversion events, ad account IDs, and consent tools. Missing one tracking dependency can break reporting after migration.
